Supplying firewood

First of several loads

Firewood used for cooking food is being delivered ready for the start of term.

Firewood is often kept long for the traditional, large, three-stone open stoves. Keeping branches long minimizes the effort and energy needed to cut or chop them into smaller pieces. The long pieces can be bundled or tied together more securely for easier transporting by motorbike to school. The wood burns more slowly from one end. It costs around £70 per month for all the firewood for the school.
