Our Cook
Where it all happens
Janet met the person who now cooks for BE MORE JOSIE when she walked into the village one day.
Lilian had fled domestic violence and was escaping with her children. Janet recalls ““It was so emotional” and “now Lilian is so grateful because it's like God remembered her.”
When Janet heard Lilian’s story, she employed her as the cook for the feeding program and BMJ pays her a small wage. Lilian can now pay school fees for the children like any other parents do. She can even get food for her children. Lilian says that thanks to BE MORE JOSIE she's where she is today and has regained her dignity.
Lilian never imagined that someone like Annie would visit her house. Of course the house isn’t hers, she's renting. She doesn't have her own home but even a roof over head was unthinkable when she fled. Lilian says her Mum can’t understand how she is surviving but knows she’s so “grateful to God for sending the feeding program“ which is helping not only her but her children.
Lilian struggled, because she had nothing. Nothing like a house, no bed for the children, no food for them. And now she feels really rich - she has a roof, a job, the children have lunch every day and an education.
BE MORE JOSIE is transforming lives.
